These are genuine guides rather than fixed prices. The final cost depends on how much content is needed, how intricate the design is and what the website needs to do.

Website Pricing Guide

Website prices are difficult to compare because the word “website” can mean almost anything.

One company might be quoting for a ready-made template with your logo and a few lines of text dropped into it. Another might be quoting for a website designed from scratch, with every page planned, written and built around the business it belongs to.

We are firmly in the second camp.

We don't use off-the-shelf designs or pull a template from a library and change the colours. Every website is designed individually around the business, its customers and what the owner actually wants it to achieve.

More importantly, we write all the initial content for you.

That makes a much bigger difference to the cost than most people realise. Many website builders will happily build the pages, then ask you to supply all the words that go on them. If you don't know what to write, you either have to do it yourself or pay a copywriter separately.

With us, the content is part of the website.

You talk to us about your business, your customers and what you want people to do when they arrive on the site. We then plan the pages, write the content and put everything together for you. When the website is ready, it is actually ready. You are not handed an attractive collection of empty pages and a list of homework.

Why Do Our Prices Vary?

The amount of work involved in two websites can be completely different, even when they have roughly the same number of pages.

A simple local business website with a clean design and straightforward services can be planned, written and built quite quickly. A website with a more intricate design, detailed service pages, multiple locations or a large amount of original content will naturally take longer.

The same applies to features. Contact forms are relatively straightforward. Booking systems, online payments, product catalogues, customer areas and connections to other systems take more time to plan, build and test.

The main things that affect the price are:

  • How many pages the website needs
  • How much content needs to be researched and written
  • How detailed or intricate the design is
  • Whether the site needs advanced forms or integrations
  • Whether it includes products, bookings or payments
  • How much information needs to be organised before we can begin

You do not need to work any of this out before speaking to us. Tell us what you are trying to achieve and we will give you an honest idea of where the project is likely to sit.

The Starter Website

£92.50–£500

Typical delivery: 1–7 days

The Starter Website is for small businesses and new ventures that need a proper online presence without making the project more complicated than it needs to be.

It is normally the right choice when customers need to understand what you do, where you work, why they should choose you and how to get in touch.

Although this is our entry-level website, it is not an off-the-shelf product. The design is still created around your business, and we still write and add the initial content for you.

A typical Starter Website includes:

  • A complete 4–8 page website
  • All initial website content written and added
  • An individual design created around your business
  • A responsive layout that works on mobile, tablet and desktop
  • Contact forms set up and tested
  • Page titles and descriptions written for Google
  • The basic technical and SEO foundations
  • Privacy and Terms and Conditions pages within the page count
  • A finished website ready to launch

The exact price depends mainly on how much content is needed and how detailed the design needs to be. A very straightforward website will sit towards the lower end of the range, while a fuller website requiring more writing and design time will sit higher.

The Standard Website

£500–£1,500

Typical delivery: 7–14 days

The Standard Website is for businesses that need their website to work harder.

It may need to explain several services properly, target different types of customers, cover more than one location or build a stronger presence in Google. It might also need additional forms, more involved page layouts or connections to other systems used by the business.

This is where the amount and quality of the content become particularly important. Rather than filling pages simply to make the website look bigger, we plan what each page needs to achieve, what the customer is likely to be searching for and what information will help them make a decision.

A typical Standard Website includes:

  • Everything included in the Starter Website
  • More pages and greater content depth
  • All initial content researched, written and added
  • A more detailed design and page structure
  • Stronger search engine optimisation
  • Keyword research worked naturally into the content
  • More detailed schema and structured information
  • Basic integrations where required
  • A stronger foundation for future content and search visibility

The price range is wider because Standard Websites can differ enormously. One may simply need more pages and stronger content. Another may need a much more intricate design, several service areas and a considerable amount of research and writing.

That is why we quote each one individually rather than pretending every business fits neatly into the same box.

Advanced and E-commerce Websites

£3,200–£5,500

Typical delivery: 3–8 weeks

Advanced and e-commerce websites are for businesses that need people to do more than read information and send an enquiry.

This might mean buying products, making bookings, paying online, logging into an account or using more complex features through the website.

There is much more involved than simply adding a shopping basket. Products need to be organised and described, payments need to work securely, shipping and tax rules need to be configured, and the whole process needs to be tested properly before anybody is allowed near the checkout.

We do not build the shop and then leave you to fill it. The agreed content and setup form part of the project, just as they do with our other websites.

A typical Advanced or E-commerce Website includes:

  • Everything included in the Standard Website
  • A custom design created around the business
  • All agreed website and product content written and added
  • An online shop, booking system or other advanced functionality
  • Secure payment processing connected and tested
  • Product or service information organised and added
  • Shipping rules and delivery areas configured where required
  • Tax settings configured for the business
  • More advanced pages, forms and website features
  • Testing across phones, tablets and desktop computers
  • A complete website ready to take orders, payments or bookings

The timescale and cost depend heavily on what the website needs to do.

A straightforward shop with a small product range is very different from one containing hundreds of products, several delivery methods or unusual ordering rules. We will talk through all of that before giving you a fixed quote, so both the cost and the timescale are clear before work begins.

What Is Included in Every Website?

The biggest difference between our websites and many cheaper alternatives is that we deal with the whole thing.

We do not just build the frame and expect you to finish it.

Every website includes an individual design, the initial content written and added for you, a responsive layout and the basic technical foundations needed for search engines to understand it.

Before building begins, we show you how the website is going to look. You can tell us what you like, what you don't like and what needs changing. We do not disappear for several weeks and return with a finished design that you have never seen before.

Once the design is agreed, we write the content and build the website around it. That is important because good design and good content need to work together. The words should not feel as though they have been squeezed into spaces left behind by the design.

The result should look like your business, sound like your business and make sense to the people you want as customers.

What Happens After the Website Goes Live?

A website should not be treated as something that is finished forever the moment it goes live.

Businesses change. Services change. Customers ask new questions. Google needs fresh and useful information if the website is going to remain visible and continue doing its job.

There may be the occasional business that only wants a simple website so it can exist online, but that is not what we would normally recommend. A website that is never updated is unlikely to do much more than sit there.

Most of our clients therefore stay with us after the website has launched. One of the reasons they choose us in the first place is that we can continue looking after the content rather than handing the website over and leaving them to work everything out themselves.

There are several ways this can work.

Having Us Manage the Website

Our preferred option is to continue managing the website for you.

We can write and publish new content, add business updates, keep pages current, manage the technical side and help the website build its visibility over time.

This means the website remains active without becoming another job on your list.

Our management options vary depending on how often you want the website updated and how much work is involved. The full details and prices are available in our Website Management Guide.

Ongoing Website Management Prices

Hosting With Richah

You can also host the website with us and manage some or all of the content yourself.

When we host your website, access to RiCreate, our own content creator and publishing system, is included within the hosting price. RiCreate uses the information already on your website to help you produce content that fits the business, rather than making you begin with a blank page and a generic prompt.

This gives you the option of staying in control of your own updates while we continue looking after the hosting and technical side.

Managed website hosting normally costs between £20 and £40 per month. More advanced websites and applications normally cost between £45 and £90 per month.

The full details are available in our Hosting and Support Guide.

Hosting

Hosting the Website Elsewhere

You are not forced to host the website with us.

If you choose to use another hosting provider but still want to manage the website through RiCreate, it is available on a licence for:

£30 per month or £250 per year

This puts you in charge of the website and its content while still giving you access to the system it was built to work with. The licence also includes ongoing RiCreate updates, so you will always have access to the current version.

We also have other Richah applications that can be used alongside a website. When we host the website, these can be included where appropriate. If the website is hosted elsewhere, the applications can be licensed separately.

Prices for those licences are available on request because they depend on which application is needed and how it will be used.

Can I Simply Take the Website?

Yes, although this is not the route most customers choose.

There may be occasions where someone needs a straightforward website that is unlikely to change and does not require ongoing content. In that situation, we can hand over the finished website once the project is complete.

We would still explain the benefits of keeping it updated before you make that decision. We would rather be honest about what helps a website succeed than quietly hand it over and pretend the work ends on launch day.

Can I Pay in Instalments?

For larger projects, yes.

We are happy to spread the cost across an agreed payment plan rather than expecting the full amount upfront. The arrangement will depend on the size and length of the project, and it will be agreed before work begins.

How Long Will My Website Take?

A Starter Website will typically take between 1 and 7 days.

A Standard Website will typically take between 7 and 14 days.

An Advanced or E-commerce Website will typically take between 3 and 8 weeks.

These are realistic guides rather than promises carved into stone. A project involving a large amount of content, an intricate design or more complicated features will naturally take longer than a straightforward build.

We will give you a realistic delivery date once we understand exactly what is involved.

Which Website Do I Need?

You do not need to decide that before getting in touch.

Most people know they need a new website, but they do not necessarily know how many pages it should have, which features matter or which price range it falls into.

That is our job to help you work out.

We will never try to talk you into a larger website or extra features simply because they cost more. If a straightforward website is all your business needs, that is what we will recommend. We treat our customers in the same way we would expect to be treated ourselves: with an honest explanation, a sensible recommendation and no unnecessary extras.

Tell us about the business, what you want the website to achieve and anything that is not working for you now. We will explain what we think you need, what you probably do not need and what it is likely to cost.

You might have a detailed plan. You might have a half-formed idea. You might simply know that your current website is doing nothing for your business and needs replacing.

Any of those is enough to start.

Whether you are ready to begin or simply trying to work out what is possible, get in touch and have a chat with us. We will give you a clear idea of the right starting point, the likely cost and how long the work should take. There is no pressure and no expectation that you already know all the answers.

Our Pricing Guide

Do you write the content for my website or do I have to do it myself?

We write all the initial content for you. You just talk to us about your business and customers, then we plan the pages and write everything. When the website launches, it's actually ready — not just empty pages waiting for you to fill them in.

How much does a basic small business website cost?

A Starter Website costs between £92.50 and £500, typically delivered in 1–7 days. This includes 4–8 pages with all content written for you, a custom design, contact forms, and basic SEO — not an off-the-shelf template.

What happens after my website goes live — do I have to manage it myself?

It depends on what you prefer. Most clients stay with us so we can manage updates, write new content, and handle the technical side. Alternatively, you can host with us and manage it yourself using our RiCreate system, or take the website elsewhere entirely.
